Which artist has achieved the most this year? That’s the question we want you to answer, that’s at the crux of what decides who the Act of the Year is. So many times this is not addressed properly – someone who can storm of success out of nowhere doesn’t always get the credit they deserve.

Here are the reasons for each respective nomination. The nominations were decided from the voices of a popular music forum.
1 – Animal Collective //
Buzz-worthy album, relentless touring, Panda Bear helping on Taken by Trees’ ‘East of Eden’. ‘My Girls’ a huge success.
2 – Blur //
That Glastonbury performance plus Hyde Park shows re-kindled a British adoration towards Damon Albarn and co.
3 – Dizzee Rascal //
From relatively loved troublemaker to pop sweetheart, ‘Bonkers’ kick-started a year of nothing but growth in popularity for an unlikely hero.
4 – Florence and the Machine //
Created a Kate Bush-ish image, released ‘Lungs’, got huge and performs energetic live shows.
5 – Friendly Fires //
Kings of the festivals, upped their game and ‘Jump in the Pool’ became a huge hit as well as new single ‘Kiss of Life’.
6 -The Horrors //
A turn of events. Changed their sound into something terrifying and released one of the albums of the year.
7 – Jay Z //
Huge fuss was made over ‘Blueprint III’ and Jay Z became arguably the biggest star in the world.
8 – La Roux //
Stormed the UK charts with two number 1 hits, ‘In For The Kill’ becoming a yearly favourite, self-titled album a perfect expression of pop variety.
9 – Noah and the Whale //
Accompanied a beautiful album with a touching piece of cinema, and changing their sound into something breathtaking
10 – The xx //
Small time, shy London four-piece absorbed a steady storm of hype to make a mature album of classic minimalism, along with countless festival appearances. And don’t forget the remixes.
