THE BIG 3 RELEASES
Fuck Buttons – Tarot Sport
Expect a warped, unpredictable appearance from this year’s follow up to 2008’s ‘Street Horrrsing’, but one more refined and polished to its predecessor. Andrew Hung and Benjamin John Power are under immense pressure to top their debut, but ‘Surf Solar’, the lead single, proves they might have lived up to the occasion. (JM)
(mp3: Rough Steez)

Editors – In This Light and On This Evening
With 2007’s ‘An End Has A Start’ cementing their stadium-inclined mopey melancholy for good, it seems a good time to leave familiar ground and try something new, especially if Tom Smith wants to be in the good books of critics that have so mercilessly bashed the band before. Their third album has experimentation firmly at the top of the agenda and it guarantees a few pleasant surprises. (JM)
(mp3: Eat Raw Flesh = Blood Drool)

MFM’s Dark Horse:
Mumford & Sons – Sigh No More
Trailed by ‘Little Lion Man’, an absolute stormer of a song, the debut album from this London folk-pop band arrives next week. The driving force behind the band’s sound is harmonies. Lots of them. There’s a banjo in there too, as well as a double bass and an organ. Formed in 2007, they rose out of the London folk scene along with Johnny Flynn, Laura Marling, Jay Jay Pistolet and Noah and the Whale. Fans of any of the aforementioned bands will find lots to like here. (GM)
