The picture above just about demonstrates The Humms’ love for all things ridiculous, displaying a similar don’t-give-a-fuck attitude on stage to that of Black Lips. You can also draw parallels sound-wise between these two bands; sun-tinged, raucous, energetic and never withdrawn, every fine element of Black Lips’ sound are present in EP ‘Are You Dead?’ which we managed to turn a blind eye to when it was released this June.
But on ‘Are You Dead?’, we’re treated to unique sonic additions of style and swagger. Don’t be mistaken: The Humms aren’t some clone band, making waves because they read the manual. They’re a band who could at any time divert into new beginnings, add extra edge or dare I say it, guts to their sound.
